This project aims to explain some of the most common (and sometimes complex) terms we use on a daily basis.

All the definitions and materials have been created by our Communications team in collaboration with the Centre’s researchers 💻🔍. As we can’t cover all the terms used in science and medicine, we will focus on those that are most relevant to our scientific agenda. 🗓️

Ebola
What is the Ebola virus? Ebola virus disease (EVD or Ebola) is an infectious disease caused by the Ebolavirus , a virus belonging to the Filoviridae family. Like Marburg fever, Lassa fever, hantavirus or dengue, Ebola can lead to viral haemorrhagic fever . These illnesses damage blood vessels and disrupt blood clotting, potentially causing haemorrhaging, organ failure and death.
